Harbortown is one of the older districts of the Pale City -- namely, it was built almost as soon as the City itself. At the time of its founding, however, Harbortown stood separate from the Pale City, constructed as a fishing village or port town that happened to serve the imperial capital, for the estuary of the Blessed River had trouble accommodating any ships at all. Over time, the two ends of what would become the Pale City grew together, and Harbortown became fully incorporated into the mass of the capital.

By the present day, Harbortown is one of the three most populous districts of the Pale City, and easily the most economically viable. It is generally regarded to end in the north at the Bloodstone, and in the south at the Salt Square.
